An experiential therapy group aimed to use writing to facilitate healing, balance, and insight.

Psychotherapist Maureen Murdoch (2003) remarked, “No event is too small or too insignificant to write about,” and Louise DeSalvo (1999), PhD wrote, “Through writing about events and feelings, participants understood what had occurred and what they felt about it, and they assimilated the meaning of this event into their lives, thereby diffusing its power over them.” Psychologist Thomas Moore (1994) also commented: “The pen, expressing the soul's passion, is mightier than the sword because the imagination can change the life of a people at their very roots.”

What to Expect

No experience with previous writing is needed; only a desire to get support in expressing authentically. The group is a safe and gentle place to reflect, and gain distance over experiences. It is best suited to people who have difficulties expressing their feelings or talking about their life experiences (from contemplation to trauma, or losses.) Writing helps clarify one's feelings, experiences, and gain perspective on our life journey. Please note this is not a creative writing group per se, and that self-reflection will be invited through prompts offered at a gentle pace. Sharing of writing will always be optional and will be moderated by the facilitator. Emphasis is given on insights garnered while writing prompts. Agnès designs prompts to bring unconscious processes to a liminal space. Consequently, what is made conscious gives more choices in participants' life.

Commitment for Lasting Change

This group is a drop-in, and clients are encouraged to attend every session, but this is not a requirement. Confidentiality and containment: The group will hold strict confidentiality in order to procure an atmosphere of psychological safety. This means that each member will be asked to refrain from sharing any information/process activity about every other person in the group outside this group, including in another CTT group.

Dreams are some of the richest and most accessible ways our unconscious establishes communication with us.

The dream pushes out of the ground like a new flower from a spring bulb because it senses the warmth and light of our willing awareness. As psychotherapist Greg Bogart judiciously points out, “Dreams spring from an underground stream that guides and heals.” Many people either don't pay attention to their dreams or think dreams are nonsensical because their language is out of reach, deprived of the logic we are accustomed to. Dreams demand an archetypally feminine approach that encompasses listening to the language of the senses, metaphors, the exploration of feelings manifesting in a liminal space, word association, amplification, and holistic conversation (somatic, heart-centered, and verbal). Although they can be puzzling and in some cases intimidating, dreams invite us to open to a fuller mode of existing. I will share my 15-year experience in conversing with dreams during this workshop, as well as my experiential learning gathered in workshops with experts in the field. I will dialogue with one dreamer each session, and all will learn the process of dialoguing in the process. Joseph Campbell saw dreams as “our own private personal myths” (1993). Bamber said that “Dreams are a kind of biopsy of the psyche” (2008).

What to Expect

Regarding Dream analysis, Jung saw it “less as a technique than as a dialectical process between personalities” (1961b par. 492). In this workshop we practice conversation rather than analysis or interpretation. This encompasses, among other things, the art of listening, the art of putting oneself in somebody else's shoes, respect, patience, responding rather than reacting, and knowing how to ask questions without frightening the “other.”

Commitment for Lasting Change

Reserve a space 24hrs in advance. Clients are encouraged to attend every session, but this is not a requirement. Confidentiality and containment: The group will hold strict confidentiality in order to procure an atmosphere of psychological safety. This means that each member will be asked to refrain from sharing any information/process activity about every other person in the group outside this group, including in another CTT group.
